The Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program (SAOP) is a rape crisis center serving seven Appalachian counties in Southeastern Ohio. Since 2013, SAOP has built community relationships within their service area to enable the delivery of comprehensive victim services and SV prevention education and awareness campaigns. In addition to providing a 24-hour crisis hotline, in-person advocacy (e.g., legal, medical, law enforcement, etc.) and accompaniment (e.g., medical, legal, etc.) to survivors, SAOP coordinates sexual assault response teams (SARTs) in two counties and conducts advocacy and prevention work in partnership with K-12 schools, community organizations, and secondary education communities including Ohio University, University of Rio Grande/ Rio Grande Community College, and Hocking College.
